It is also a way to highlight favorable cosmetic attributes.  Although fashion is a popular way to express oneself physically, there are situations in which clothing options are limited or selective. Special events, such as weddings and high-school homecoming or prom dances, require attendees to dress formally. Additionally, companies and businesses interviewing potential employees may request that the interviewee come dressed appropriately, which typically means no jeans, tennis shoes, T-shirts or anything considered too casual. These standards are in place because a sense of fashion leaves a good first impression, and an employer or the host of an event may desire to create a certain atmosphere.

Other fashion styles are dependent on particular groups of people. This is often seen when movie stars or music groups wear a specific style of clothing. This type of fashion is reliant on celebrities and their success. As celebrities change their tastes or new stars move into the limelight, the style of fashion changes with them.

Fashion satisfies two strong demands of social man-the demand for novelty and the demands for conformity. It turns the desire for novelty into social practice and  make novelty the right and proper thing for the group. it is human nature to aspire for distinction. Man does not love by security alone. He yearns for something new for variety and novelty. Fashion satisfies this desire and also succeeds in accommodating this desire to the rule of conformity. thus fashion satisfies some important desires of man whose satisfaction is necessary for his living in society. For instance, many women during the 1960s styled their hair after President John F. Kennedy's wife, Jackie Kennedy. The late Princess Diana of Wales was also a fashion icon. Wife of Prince William, Kate Middleton, has become a trend setter around the world.   Fashion designers use technology to design fabrics using fashion designing tools available in software packages, to alter previous designs, to see how design looks like.
